Cambridge WWTP Return Liquor Pump Station & Septage Tank

At Pump & Valve Specialties Ltd, we take pride in delivering infrastructure that not only meets technical standards but also makes a lasting difference to the communities it serves. One month ago, our team successfully completed the Cambridge Wastewater Treatment Plant Return Liquor Pump Station & Septage Tank — a project that demonstrates engineering excellence, collaboration, and commitment to long‑term sustainability.

Building for Community Impact
Wastewater treatment infrastructure often works quietly in the background, but its importance cannot be overstated. By designing and delivering this pump station and septage tank, we’ve helped strengthen Cambridge’s wastewater network, ensuring cleaner operations and reliable service for years to come.

Project Highlights

Twin Packaged Pumping Station
Heavy‑duty fibreglass wet well, Ø2500mm ID × 5240mm deep, engineered for durability and ease of maintenance.

High‑performance pumps
Twin KSB Amarex KRT submersible pumps (KRTK 80‑315/154U EG‑S IE3), 7.5 kW each, delivering efficient and reliable performance.

Septage Receiving Storage Tank
A single horizontal underground fibreglass tank, Ø3.0m × 18.5m long, with three access shafts and an internal spray‑ball wash‑down system. Each shaft is fitted with Austral FSP lids for secure access.

Pipework & Valves
150mm 316 stainless steel pipework, finished in twin SS flanges, ready for the rising main. A 300mm SS knife gate valve on the inlet ensures robust flow control.

Automated Washdown System
Auto Well Washer on a guide rail, fed via an RPZ backflow prevention valve, cycling automatically to keep the system clean. Internal spray balls in the storage tank provide additional wash‑down capability.

Safety Lids
Austral International aluminium checker‑plate lids with integrated safety grilles, plus Austral FSP lids over the storage tank shafts, ensuring secure and safe access.

The Team Behind the Project

This achievement reflects the dedication and expertise of our engineers:

  • Ramkumar Govindaraj — Mechanical Engineer (Design)
  • Jessie Malik — Civil Projects & R&D Engineer

Their combined efforts, along with the wider Pump & Valve team, ensured that every detail was designed, built, and installed to the highest standard.

Engineered for the Future

From concept to commissioning, this project was delivered as a complete turnkey solution. Every component was selected for longevity, efficiency, and compliance, ensuring the system will serve Cambridge reliably for decades.
