Nikuni VDF (Vortex Dynamic Filter)

The Nikuni VDF is a media-free, high-efficiency coolant / fluid filtration system that uses centrifugal force (vortex dynamics) to remove sludge and particles without disposable filters or cartridges. It’s designed to reduce waste, reduce maintenance, and improve fluid cleanliness in industrial systems.

How it Works

Fluid flows in tangentially at the top of the separator (side port), creating a vortex along the inner wall of the cyclone-like separator. Centrifugal force pushes heavier sludge down towards a narrow base nozzle. Sludge is discharged into a sludge pod; fine sludge or particles that can’t descend are carried upward and exit with cleaned fluid.

  • Filter-cartridge free design — no disposable paper or cartridge filters; less downtime, less waste.

  • High filtration precision — at 0.2 MPa (2 bar) supply pressure, can remove ~95% of particles ≥25 μm, ~90% for ≥10 μm.

  • Efficient sludge concentration — heavier particles swirl down the tapered body, collected in sludge pod for easier disposal.

  • Wide flow range — available in many sizes, single unit flows from ~10 to 300 (1000) L/min.

  • Stainless steel or nylon models — material options depending on fluid compatibility.

  • Handles both ferrous & non-ferrous contaminants — ferrous particles get separated, non-ferrous & ultra-fine particles are also managed.

  • Cleaner coolant / fluid means less damage & better quality — reduces scratching, improves product / tool quality (e.g. fewer NG (non-good) parts).

  • No foam or bubbles — avoids trap-up of air or foam that sometimes happens in filter cartridges.

  • Coolant filtration in machining / metalworking / industrial cutting fluids

  • Fluids & coolants in manufacturing processes requiring clean fluid to avoid wear or defects

  • Industrial systems where regular disposable filter replacement is costly or impractical

  • Any process where fluid contains sludge or solids that need to be separated regularly without high maintenance

  • Hydraulic or lubrication circuits that demand high fluid cleanliness

  • Best filtration performance at around 0.2 MPa (2 bar) pressure.

  • Capacity ranges widely; size selection based on flow rate and sludge load.
