Improved Pumping Efficiency: Fastflo SF Pump
A food processing factory discharged all their waste into a central pit where it was pumped away with 2 cast iron Flygt pumps. The issue was that the existing Flygt pumps were only lasting about 3 months due to corrosion from the harsh chemicals used for cleaning. Repairs were very expensive and repairing pumps every 3 months was a headache that everyone on site could do without. Further complicating the issue was that the pit was several meters deep and the existing Flygt pumps were installed on Flygt pedestals so any solution had to be adapted to fit these (getting down in the pit and replacing the pedestals was to be avoided if at all possible).
Pump & Valve offered a Fastflo SF series pump. As the pump is all stainless steel construction it was far more resistant to the harsh cleaning chemicals and furthermore it was fitted with a Flygt pedestal adapter so that it could be fitted down the same guiderails. The result – 24 months have passed and the pump has still not been lifted. 8 times the life and counting!
