Pump & Valve were asked to look at replacing a drymount stainless steel centrifugal vortex pumping sludge from a DAF plant, the sludge had a high concentration of sand in it, meaning the existing pumps were needing rebuilding almost every year which was a costly exercise.

The solution was to use 3” Wilden Brahama Air Diaphragm Pump. These pumps have can pump viscous abrasive sludge easily and have a 3” solids passage and are also must more cost effective to maintain.
They trialled one pump and it worked so well they ordered a second pump to replace the other centrifugal vortex pump!
