Coal Mine Fines Pumping

Coal mine

Pump & Valve were called in to look at some end suction dry mounted pumps that were pumping water containing high levels of coal fines out of a dam and into a treatment plant. The existing pumps had priming and wear issues – and typical life was only 6 months. The duty required was 175l/sec @ 45m head.

Pump & Valve recommended an APT column pump mounted on a pontoon. The immersed pump head instantly sorted out the priming issue and the pump head – manufactured from abrasion resistant white iron – has been in and pumping for over 5 years.

As a result of the success with this pump the client ordered another 2 x 250kW pumps in the same configuration.
